Did you know the 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT was one of the first trucks to feature a unique "dynamic fuel management" (DFM) system with up to 17 different cylinder activation patterns? This system is designed to continuously adjust which cylinders are active based on power demand in real time. Unlike older cylinder deactivation systems which only switched between four and eight cylinders DFM in the Silverado could adjust cylinder use anywhere between one and eight cylinders depending on what was needed. This innovation gave it a notable fuel efficiency edge without sacrificing power especially during light driving or cruising when you wouldn't expect such a large truck to be using so little fuel. The DFM system's real-time responsiveness is so subtle that most drivers wouldn't notice it engaging.
